About

Hello and welcome!

My name is Farin. I’m a 20-something living in New York who, after ten years of working in the theatre and trying to be an actress, decided on a drastic change of careers and set my sights on the publishing world. Because I read. A lot. Like “I read 101 books in 2011” a lot. Not only that, but I also love recommending books to other people and encouraging my friends and family to read. When I reevaluated my life plan, it was no surprise to me that working with books came out on top, and I’ve been working towards that goal ever since. I happily achieved it in July of 2012!

I’ve started this blog as a networking tool and as a way to get my head back into critical writing.
(I think it goes without saying that I’m also doing it for fun!)

I don’t generally like disclaimers, but in this case, I’m going to do it: I try to express my opinions as objectively as possible. If a post offends, I sincerely apologize.

  1. Hi Farin,

Congratulations on the internship. That would have been my dream job a few decades ago. I’m writing (belatedly) to thank you for your very kind review of my novel “India Black.” I had planned to ask if you’d be interested in reviewing the second in the series, as it’s coming out in October. However, my publisher is Berkley Prime Crime and is affiliated with Penguin and therefore you probably have to refrain from reviewing authors published by these imprints. If you are free to review and would be interested, just let me know. Again, best wishes on your plunge into the publishing world.

    • Hi Carol! I’m so excited to hear from you and am trying very hard not to become a gushing fangirl. I would love to review the second India Black, even if I am still working at Penguin in October (because, alas, my internship ends in two weeks).

    Hi Farin:

I found out about you through a woman who went to school with you in Oceanside, where I grew up. I’m looking to find out if you have published any book reviews and, if so, how you went about doing that. I write and publish book reviews and I’m looking to expand my horizons. Please contact me at writer1265@gmail.com.

    Thanks,
    Joe
